Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Tiffany

When you actually stop to think about it marshmallows are pretty weird aren’t they?! What is even weirder is why do people do such dumb things? Dan Fogg has complied some humors observations and now you can read and laugh. Dan writes tales of stupidity and ignorance and what makes this book so funny is that everything he writes people have actually done. I throughly enjoyed reading Dan’s essays, very entertaining to say the least.

I read this book as an eBook. But lets just say, if I had this book in hard copy, I’d own two of them. One book to put on my coffee table and the other to place in the bathroom. This book is a series of short, true, stories of life and the “stupid people” out there.

I started reading this book while waiting for Lee to get done with her dance class. I wasn’t prepared for how funny it was going to be. I caught myself laughing not just out loud but very loudly!! I even caught myself saying, oh my goodness, that’s so true. I even learned things from this book. Things like how the Greenbay Packers could have changed their name to Pickers. Oh my!!! Or that there was a pink Mc D’s on the highway I use to drive. Oh and that people sue for the stupidest things and actually win!!

Have you ever wondered why there has to be a sign that says “do not stop on tracks”? You need to read this book to find out. There is a lot of stupidity out there.

This book also made me cry though. In a good way. Kindness isn’t found much now a days and to read one of Dan’s stories on his experience with kindness will touch your heart but with a touch of laughter.
This is a quick easy read that I think you all will enjoy(unless you have been one of those stupid people, then you just might not understand it.) I’m glad to have read this book. the world needs more laughter and if we can’t laugh at ourselves then we really can’t laugh.

I am thankful that Dan Fogg’s family released some of his writings and I hope they will continue. He had amazing talent. Thank you.

Weirder Than Marshmallows by Dan Fogg is a collection of essays that reminds me of the comedy routine by Bill Engvall. Remember the here’s your sign routine- where people ask some of the most ridiculous questions that the answers are so obvious that even a passerby could answer the question without even knowing the question. That kind of ignorance is not bliss.

Weirder Than Marshmallows tell stories of people’s ignorance and stupidity not to make fun of people but to basically entertain the reader. To be honest how many of us have not had a moment like that in our life. After all laughter is the best medicine.

These essays are broken up into five categories. The first category “Do Not Stop On Tracks” tells about warning that should not have to be spoken. Like if take a meal out of the microwave after being heated up- of course it is going to be hot. No warnings needed,. Another section is entitled Technology Sucks. I so know how that feels being without the internet for almost a week. We are too dependent on technology these days.

All in all this a great little work if you are looking for a quick laugh or just as a pick me up on one of those days were nothing seems to go right.

Written by: Dan Fog
Compiled and edited by: Deborah Carney,
Publisher: Night Fire Publications
About the book:
“Ignorance, lack of common sense, and downright inhuman stupidity run rampant in this country and around the world. I watch people, and I hear stories, and they beg, beg, beg to be mocked and ridiculed. So I created a forum for people to do that.” Weirder Than Marshmallows showcases tales of stupidity and ignorance in the hopes of making people laugh.”People can submit the bare details,” said Fogg. “I’ll turn it into a story, sticking to the facts they give me and adding my own commentary.”

This book is a hilarious look at stupidity. When I say hilarious I mean people were looking at me because I was laughing so hard. There were some serious parts that seemed almost to take away from what I thought was a “humor themed” book, but I was quickly drawn back in. Overall this was a really good book. I read it in about an hour and plan to go back and reread it again.

Weirder Than Marshmallows is a compilation of a mans experiences dealing with…well stupidity. At times I sat laughing, shaking my head saying this can’t be for real, but it is. You actually learn a lot about the author through his notes. He is honest and funny in this book and you can read the type of person he was through his words. He totally seemed like someone I would have gotten along with well. I was never one to read book dedications so I was a bit caught off guard at he end and actually felt a strong tug of my heart. I strongly suggest if you are the emotional type like me read the dedications!

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh. I was in a bad mood when I started to read Weirder Than Marshmallows and afterwards I had permagrin. Take the time to read this book and you’ll never look at lighter fluid the same.

I received this book for free.

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Hilarious accounts of pure ignorance

Hilarious accounts of pure ignorance

I found this book rather funny and well written. It’s great to hear all the stories of pure ignorance that are portrayed in this book.

My only problem with the book is that it is so short. I read it from start to finish in under 30 minutes. I wanted more laughs and wished that it was so much longer.

I highly recommend this book despite its length for those looking for a good laugh!!

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Tiffany C.

This book thinks alot like I do about common sense signs. Like at a railroad track, don’t stop on the tracks everyone knows that well at least if you payed attention in driving school. Or when you see a fire zone no parking and you park and get towed and wonder why? well you parked there you made those decisions now you pay the price right?! When I saw the headline made me want to go upstairs and grab some those HUGE marshmallows they just came out with! This book is so hillarious I haven’t read such a funny book in a long time. This book just makes you wonder why all those common sense/why did they do that stuff for people who don’t think. Of course NO one reads anything nowadays on the roads causing more deaths. My favorite one in this book is that “Pink McDonalds”. This book has alot of great work into it, from day to day to why are humans so lazy!!

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Flora

Written by the late Dan Fogg and complied by his mother, Weirder than Marshmallows is about strange observations Fogg made during his life in a Jerry Seinfled-sort of way. Foggs essays are well written, humorous and separated into different sections, like the difficulties of technology and not acting like a moron.

Fogg introduces himself to the reader with the following:

“Ignorance, lack of common sense, and downright inhuman stupidity run rampant in this country and around the world. I watch people, and I hear stories, and they beg, beg, beg to be mocked and ridiculed.”

Fogg tells the reader about his trials as an aspiring writer and unique (and funny) situations those in motorized wheelchairs face. He is an equal-opportunity offender without being too offensive.

If you need a good chuckle, consider reading Dan Fogg’s Weirder than Marshmallows.

It’s a collection of observations that Dan Fogg-All the stories on the site are true. That’s what makes the concept attention grabbing. Anybody can make up strange stories. But these are real, they actually happened, to relatively normal human beings. There’s no fiction here.

One of my favorite lines is when Dan talked about warning lables on flammable liquaids– Harmful if swallowed-Don’t drink it, don’t eat it, don’t dump it on your popcorn instead of butter…
he just put a twist on a DUH moment that make it impossiable to stop reading!!

This book that not only has some beautiful photos of butterflies, but also has a quote for each one by famous authors throughout history, such as, Emily Dickenson, Hans Christian Anderson, Robert Frost, Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling just to name a few.

What I love about this book is that the photos are actual photos of many different type of butterflies in their natural settings. The photos are so vibrant and colorful and shows just how wonderfully beautiful nature truly is.

This book can be found at Amazon, and also at Night Fire Publications. Please also visit their facebook pages Night Fire Publications and Cool Butterflies.

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Unorganized Mommy Of 3

By NightFire

Unorganized Mommy Of 3

What is weirder than a marshmallow? Well, to be honest, I have never really thought about it. I never thought of marshmallows to be weird, but once you mention it, they kind of are – right?

I got a chance to review this book called Weirder Than Marshmallows and in fact, it is not about marshmallows, this is a book with a collection of musings and humurous thoughts of humanity. About the stupidity that is portrayed and points out how the obvious is right there in front of your face but totally missed.

This book is a short read and although I did not find this book to be very entertaining. It did get a few chuckles out of me, but this was just not something that ammused me.

But, even though I did not find it amusing, I am betting some of you would enjoy it.
