Buddha Quotes and Photographs from Buddha Beach in Sedona Arizona
This is a full color book of photographs, I have previewed it in black and white and it looks good on those Kindles also. It will display best on the Kindle Fire or on the color Kindle apps available for your computers and your devices (iPad etc)
Rock cairns populate the area known as Buddha Beach at the Cathedral Rock Vortex along Oak Creek in Sedona. There are literally hundreds of tiny hand crafted rock piles, made from rocks and stones along the shore.
Buddha Beach actually is part of Oak Creek where the creek widens and in warm weather people go wading and even swimming. People actually also cross the creek to get to the trails on the other side.
As I (Deborah Carney) was photographing the tiny (and not so tiny) rock structures I knew they had to be paired with quotes and sayings from Buddha. I hope you will enjoy this journey through Buddha Beach paired with some insightful quotations.
The photographs in this book are taken by myself, my daughter Liz, and her son Alec. I was going to identify who took what, but I don’t want to detract from the beauty of the images and the sayings they are paired with. I will say that I am proud to say that each of us contributed and individual attribution isn’t necessary. All the sayings in the book are attributed to Buddha.
Buddha quotes need to be read slowly for the meaning to come to you. Many are open to interpretation, which means you will read the meaning you need to see and hear. Each photo has its own message; you might have to look hard to find it.
I’m very happy that we went in the winter because we were able to see and experience things that would be hidden by leaves in the spring and summer. It was also nice to have a few people around, but not the large numbers that are in the area during the warmer seasons.
We are where we are supposed to be, when we are supposed to be there.

Lilacs A to E by Deborah Carney
A series of books that identify full color images of Lilacs. All images are correctly identified from tags that were attached to the bushes at the time they were photographed. Due to the size of the completed books, we have broken Lilacs A to Z into four books, varieties that start with A through E, F through L, M through Q, and R through Z.

Years ago I lived in Rochester, NY, which has a park with hundreds of Lilac bushes. Each spring there is a Lilac Festival, usually during the peak blooming season for the majority of the bushes. There are some that bloom ahead of the rest, and some late blooming, but since I lived in the area, I could photograph all the Lilacs at their peaks.
I got my love of lilacs from my Grandmother, who had a beautiful, large lilac bush in front of her country farmhouse. Every Spring when we visited her the smell of lilacs floated in the air and through the open windows into the house. It was tall enough to shade part of the yard where I would sit and read.
After photographing the Lilacs for years, I started to realize that I wanted to know more about them, what they actually were. After that I started photographing not only the bushes but also the tags and signs around them so that I could accurately identify the specific varieties.
All identifications were made from tags attached to the lilac bushes as they were photographed. Any bush without a tag is not included in this book.
We hope you enjoy this Coffee Table book that fits on your Kindle and brings a breath of Spring into your day.
Best viewed on Kindle color apps, or Kindle Fire, but still looks good in Black and White.

Antelope Canyon – Take a Walk With Me by Deborah Carney
About the Book
Antelope Canyon is one of Arizona most prized slot canyons. Only a half mile long but filled with color, texture, and patterns to delight the visitor. It is not open to the public for exploring, you have to go with a Native American guide that will point out the “favorite” places to take photos but will also allow you time to capture the beauty on your own.
This isn’t a photography “how-to” book, it is a “take a walk with me” and enjoy the beauty that exists in this photographic historical treasure.
From the Book Intro:
This was my first visit to a slot canyon and I was very excited to be going. If the weather had been bad, we would have missed our opportunity because during storms slot canyons can flood, and on a cloudy day the beautiful colors are not as vivid, if seen at all.
The changing light accentuates the beauty of the canyon. As the light changes, as the sun moves, the canyon walls change and there are new visions. Although Antelope Canyon is only a half mile long, I took over 900 photographs because the walls were ever changing and the light from each step highlighted a new and different look. The photographs included in this book are the best of the best, but don’t be surprised if book two makes it’s way to publication as well.
The only way to access Antelope Canyon is with a Native American guide. Due to vandals destroying parts of the Canyon it is now closed to the general public.
Take a walk with me through this beautiful natural wonder and be fascinated by what the weather has done to create this testament to the power of Mother Nature. The photos are presented in the same order that they were taken, like you are walking along beside me.

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Rita L.
Rita L.
I was sent a rough copy of Weirder Than Marshmallows to review. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but the book sounded like something I would be interested in. I have a unique sense of humor and find humor in things that many people don’t. I have that 90’s Saturday Night Live sense of humor that so many people hate. I think they hate it because they don’t get it. This book is like that. Some of the stories make you have to think about it before you get the humor. Some of them are really funny, others are ok but I don’t necessarily feel a book should have been written for them. This book is very short and I literally read it in about 35 minutes. I have placed it on the back of the toilet in our guest bathroom. It would make the perfect bathroom reader since every story is only one page. I think if the book was bigger, it would be more enjoyable. It was still a fun read even though it was short. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick chuckle.

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – Jenn, Mom of Two Munchkins
Jenn, Mom of Two Munchkins
I was selected to review Weirder Than Marshmallows by Dan Fogg and was surprised. Keep reading for my review.
I have to start by saying that this book was not what I thought it would be. It knew it was supposed to be funny but was expecting it to be more jokes and less real life. But I wasn’t really exactly sure what to expect.
This book was amusing and so very true. I found myself relating to many of the essays in this book. Especially on that was about elections. I thought that was had perfect timing. I found it interesting that many of my own rants were in the book. Made me feel like maybe I was not as crazy as I thought!
The book contains 5 chapters:
Do Not Stop on Tracks
En Masse
Technology Sucks
That’s Just Freaky
Weird Stuff
The first chapter immediately catches your attention and makes you keep reading out of pure anticipation of what will be said next. Brilliant!
I love how they describe the book and how the title got it’s name. “I could rant about marshmallows forever. But this book isn’t about marshmallows, this book is about stories. Stories, that are, like marshmallows, strange, mind boggling, but somehow appealing to the public at large. Hard to explain, impossible to ignore.”
I couldn’t have captured the book or marshmallows any better!
I love Daniel Fogg’s honesty throughout the book and how many of his points are things I have wondered about myself. It is a well written book that begs to be read.
Make sure you buy your copy of Weirder than Marshmallows today. This book would make a great gift or stocking stuffer!

Review of Weirder Than Marshmallows – jshallow01

I am always intrigued by how an author comes up with a title to a book. Sometimes they are pretty self explanatory and other times they seem more obscure. Until I dove in to this very quick read of essays, I wasn’t sure exactly what the title referred to. My curiousity as to the naming of the title was quickly answered when I read the preface and was asked to ponder why (white) marshmallows list the dye blue 1 as an ingredient. Yes, that does seem weird to me. And yes, I did check my own bag of marshmallows in the cupboard and saw it listed as an ingredient. So, I thought that this was a good start to the book and was interested to see what other essays and musings Dan Fogg had to share with us.
As I read though the section of “Do Not Stop On The Tracks”, I couldn’t help think about all the many baby products that I have read such warnings on, those warnings that were common sense and didn’t need to be spelled out but they obviously had to because more than one person lacked the common sense that was required to use such a product.
The book includes other sections titled “En Masse” “Technology Sucks” ‘That’s Just Freaky” and “Weird Stuff”. I did find some of the observations to be more critical and cynical than I am myself, but some of the other observations were entertaining to read. My favorite essay in the collection is called “The Vortex” and seemed to be the start of a movie. He did a good job describing the setting that allowed me to get a clear picture and understand his feelings. And I thought the most, shall we say – educational, was “Electile Dysfunction 2000: Heard from Florida Lately?”
I did enjoy reading though his collection of favorite quotes. Reading what inspires or provokes a person helps you to draw up a mental image of their character and provide a deeper insight to their writings.
